Huge Relief for BTC candidates: B.Ed candidates cannot apply for Level I of Class III Teacher Recruitment Examination

Today, the Supreme Court of India upheld the Rajasthan High Court's decision stating that BTC diploma holders will only be eligible for becoming primary-grade teachers. The top Court heard the Special Leave Petition which was filed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCPE) and the Central Government. The bench rejected the SLP and affirmed the decision of the Rajasthan HC. The verdict of the HC stated that only BTC diploma holders will be eligible to appear for Level-I of the Class III Teacher Recruitment Examination. It means B.Ed candidates will not be able to apply for teaching positions in the 1st to 5th classes. Today, Advocate Dr. Manish Singhvi appeared for the state government’s arguments and Advocate Vigyan Shah appeared for the diploma holders.
