Journalist Siddique Kappan bail got rejected by Lucknow court in Enforcement Directorate’s money laundering case

A Lucknow sessions court today rejected bail to journalist Siddique Kappan in a money laundering case filed by the ED.

The UP Cops arrested the Journalist Siddique Kappan on 5th October, 2020, along with three other men while they were moving to Hathras where a Dalit girl was gangraped and murdered by four upper-caste Thakur men on September 14, 2020.

The cops first accused Kappan of intending to initiate a caste-based riot and start caste disturbances. Later, sedition charges and provisions of the UAPA Act were added.

4 months after, the ED, which investigates financial crimes, filed the case against the journalist under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

On 9th of September, the Apex Court granted bail to Kappan in the UAPA case.

Anyhow, he continued in the prison regarding of the money laundering case.
