The Top Court today directed the Central bureau of Investigation team to enquire regarding the suicide of teenager as per previous order of the Madras High Court.

A two member bench composed of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Bela M Trivedi directed this order regarding the appeal.

Father of the teenager approached the apex court against the state government's refusal decision; earlier he approached the High Court which also directed for the CBI probe in the matter.

“We wonder if we should intervene with the probe begun by the CBI. It might not be appropriate for us to interject in the investigation of CBI. We will issue notice on the first aspect," the bench said.

The Top Court said that there are two issues in this matter, the primary issue is that certain angles should be known and the secondary issue is that of shifting the case to the CBI.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the Tamil Nadu state, informed the bench that the DD is on file and this is not an issue where cops should be punished. He strongly said that “I don’t know why such a big issue is being made”.

The warden of the hostel earlier arrested immediately after the suicide by teenager under the Juvenile Act regarding the charges of abetting suicide.

The 17yrs teenager, studying at the Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School in Michael Patti, took the poison on January 9 and later shifted to hospital and afterwards died on January 19 at a hospital. She made a video before death that the warden of the hostel is forcing her to convert religion from Hinduism to Christianity This video went viral on social media after her death.
