In the Hon’ble Supreme Court, a Public Interest Litigation was filed by Aryavarta Mahasabha Foundation to seek an investigation into the Chhapra hooch tragedy in Bihar by SIT (Special Investigation Team). This plea also sought compensation for the people who died in this incident.
The matter was refused to be listed by the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, who further said the petitioners to go through a proper process to list the case as well as suggested them to mention the case again after the winter break.
The Chhapra hooch tragedy in Bihar had reached a death toll of 53 in Saran District of Bihar which caused a major political stir in the state.
