Collegium recommends the transfer of Gauhati High Court judge Justice Nani Tagia to the Patna High Court

On 24 August 2023, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the transfer of the Gauhati High Court judge Justice Nani Tagia to the Patna High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium includes Chief Justice of India DY Chandracud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, and Justice Surya Kant. His recommendation was proposed by the Collegium on August 23 for better administration of justice. As per the resolution issued by the Collegium yesterday (August 24), Justice Tagia requested that “he may be allowed to remain at any of the Benches of the Gauhati High Court or be transferred to the High Court of Tripura.” After considering the request by Justice Tagia, the SC Collegium stated that it “does not find any merit in the request made by him.” Therefore, the Collegium rejected the request and reiterated its recommendation issued on August 23 to transfer Justice Tagia to the High Court of Patna.
