Today, the Supreme Court (SC) of India reserved its order on a plea filed by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav seeking the transfer of a criminal defamation complaint against him, pending in the Ahmedabad Court to a place outside the state, preferably Delhi. While hearing the matter today, the SC bench took on record Tejashwi Yadav’s fresh statement of apology and stated “We will pass orders.” The bench hearing the case comprises of Justice A.S. The complaint filed against the RJD leader was under Section 499 and Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) due to his remarks “Only Gujaratis can be thugs in the present situation, and their fraud will be forgiven,” while talking to the media in March 2023.
