On February 05, 2024 (Monday), the Supreme Court (SC) agreed to list the curative petitions filed by Mr. Manish Sisodia, AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, seeking bail in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam case. He is in custody facing corruption and money laundering charges in the case. During the proceedings today, Senior Advocate A.M. Singhvi, representing Mr. Sisodia, appeared before the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud for oral mentioning of the curative petitions stating, “He has been languishing in jail for over a year.” In response, the CJI said, “I have made arrangements to list the case.” Earlier in October 2023, a two-judge bench consisting of Justice SVN Bhatti, and Justice Sanjiv Khanna dismissed Sisodia’s bail petitions in the cases filed by the ED (Enforcement Directorate) and CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) over the Delhi liquor policy scam case. Further in December 2023, the review petition filed by Mr. Sisodia was also dismissed by the Supreme Court.
