Today, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal mentioned the petition filed by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan against the trial court’s (Uttar Pradesh) order directing him to give a voice sample in a hate speech case for urgent listing. The matter was mentioned before a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice AS Bopanna and Justice SVN Bhatti. Azam Khan approached the Supreme Court against the July 25th Allahabad High Court’s decision refusing to interfere with the order of the trial court. While hearing the matter, Justice Bopanna agreed to list the matter on August 25 whereas SA Sibal said that the case is posted for further hearing before the trial court tomorrow August 23; therefore, Justice Bopanna agree to list the matter on August 23, 2023 (Wednesday).
