On December 13, 2023, the Supreme Court (SC) of India dismissed a review petition filed by former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia. This petition was filed seeking review of the decision of the SC denying him bail in the money laundering case connected to the Delhi Excise Policy Scam. Manish Sisodia has been in custody since February 2023 and is being investigated by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The matter was heard by a two-judge bench comprising Justice SVN Bhatti and Justice Sanjiv Khanna, it rejected the prayer for an oral hearing of the review petition and said “We have carefully perused review petitions as also the grounds in support thereof. In our opinion, no case for review of the judgment dated 30.10.2023 is made out.” Earlier this year in October, the Supreme Court bench denied Sisodia’s bail plea stating “In the analysis there are certain aspects which are doubtful…regarding transfer of Rupees 338 crore transfer is established. We have rejected the bail.”
