Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Names of 14 Advocates for Elevation as Bombay HC Judges

On August 19, 2025, the Supreme Court (SC) Collegium issued two resolutions recommending the names of 14 advocates for elevation as judges of the High Court (HC) of Bombay. If the Central Government clears the names of all 14 advocates, then the total strength of the Bombay High Court would be 83, leaving 11 vacancies. The resolution reads, “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 19th August, 2025, has approved the proposal for appointment of the following Advocates as Judges of the High Court of Bombay…” The names are as follows:

  2. Shri Mehroz Ashraf Khan Pathan
  3. Shri Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale
  4. Shri Sandesh Dadasaheb Patil
  5. Shri Shreeram Vinayak Shirsat
  6. Shri Hiten Shamrao Venegavkar
  7. Shri Rajnish Ratnakar Vyas
  8. Shri Raj Damodar Wakode
  9. Shri Nandesh Shankarrao Deshpande
  10. Shri Amit Satyavan Jamsandekar
  11. Shri Ashish Sahadev Chavan
  12. Mrs. Vaishali Nimbajirao Patil-Jadhav
