Supreme Court Collegium Updates

Recently, the Supreme Court (SC) Collegium held a meeting and recommended the elevation of Chief Justices/ Judges of the High Courts as Judges in the Supreme Court. Also, the SC Collegium recommended the elevation of certain Judges as Chief Justices of different High Courts. The SC Collegium issued two resolutions on May 26, 2025, and listed the names of the judges for elevation. In one resolution, the SC Collegium recommended elevation of Mr. Justice N.V. Anjaria (Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court), Mr. Justice Vijay Bishnoi (Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court), and Mr. Justice A.S. Chandurkar (Judge of the Bombay High Court) as judges in the top court. In another resolution, the SC Collegium recommended elevation of Mr. Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva appointed as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court (Present High Court, Madhya Pradesh High Court), Mr. Justice Vibhu Bakhru appointed as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court (Present High Court, Delhi High Court), Mr. Justice Ashutosh Kumar appointed as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court (Present High Court, Patna High Court), Mr. Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi appointed as Chief Justice of Patna High Court (Present High Court, Patna High Court), and Mr. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan appointed as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court (Present High Court, Himachal Pradesh High Court).
