Supreme Court Grants Bail to Anand Rai, Whistleblower in 'Vyapam Scam', in relation to SC/ST Act case

Today the Supreme Court provided big relief to Anand Rai by granting him bail. Here it is noteworthy that Mr. Anand was a whistleblower in 'Vypam Scam'. Relief was granted by the bench chaired by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud  in a matter related to the Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act (Prevention of Atrocity Act) 1989 (SC/ST Act). Appellant Anand Rai challenged the judgment of a single Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Indore, which denied bail and dismissed his appeal pursuant to section 14 of the said act in the Supreme Court.  Anand Rai was named by the complainant along with  several other people in an incident of pelting stones in which the District Collector’s gunman.
