On January 19, 2024, the Supreme Court (SC) designated 56 advocates and Advocate-on-Record including 11 women as senior advocates. The SC issued a notification for the same stating, “The Chief Justice of India and the judges of the Supreme Court of India in a full court meeting held on Friday, January 19, 2024, have been pleased to designate the following advocates-on-record/advocates as senior advocates with effect from January 19, 2024.” The notification was issued by a Five-member selection committee consisting of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice B.R. Gavai, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Attorney General R. Venkataramani, and Senior Advocate Kiran Suri. Advocate Amit Anand Tiwari, Advocate Shobha Gupta, Advocate Ardhendumauli Kumar Prasad, Advocate Tapesh Kumar Singh, Advocate Gaurav Agarwal, Advocate Mohd. Shoeb Alam, Advocate Gagan Gupta, Advocate Swarupama Chaturvedi, and Advocate Sunil Fernandes are among the 56 lawyers who have been designated as Senior Advocates on January 19, 2024.
