Today, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia approached the Supreme Court challenging CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) arrest in context with a corruption case related to the now-scrapped excise policy. The top Court bench agreed to hear the bail plea of Manish Sisodia which was mentioned by Abhishek Manu Singhvi at 3:50 pm today. The Chief Justice of India asked Singhvi that why the remedies available before the High Court under Section 482 CrPC could not be availed by Sisodia. Singhvi replied that Manish Sisodia’s case is an extraordinary case warranting interference under Article 32. In addition, he cited the judgment passed by the Court in Vinod Dua Case. Earlier on February 26, 2023, after an interrogation of more than eight hours, Sisodia was arrested whereas, on February 27, the remand of Sisodia to CBI was granted for 5 days for interrogating him in an excise policy case.
