This year, the Supreme Court of India will bid farewell to three judges and the Chief Justice of India (CJI). The total sanctioned strength of the SC is 34 judges but a vacancy was created after the retirement of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul in December 2023. Currently, the SC of India is working with a strength of 33 judges. The judges to retire in 2024 are listed as follows:
- Justice Anirudhha Bose will retire on April 10, 2024.
- Justice A.S. Bopanna will retire on May 19, 2024.
- Justice Hima Kohli will retire on September 01, 2024.
- Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud will retire on November 10, 2024.
