Section 157 CrPC Modified In clause (b) of subsection (1), audio - video electronic means are added. In subsection (2), the words , "forward the daily diary report fortnightly to the Magistrate" are added. Sub - section (3) is newly added, which stipulates forensic experts visit the crime scene as mandatory for offences punishable for seven years or more.

Section 176 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 deals with procedure for investigation. Under the old law this was Section 157 of the CrPC.
