Section 231 CrPC Newly added Newly added proviso to section 254 of BNSS provides that evidence of a witness may be recorded by audio - video electronic means. Newly added subsection (2) provides that the deposition of evidence of any police officer or public servant may be taken through audio - video electronic means.

Section 254 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 deals with evidence for prosecution. Under the old law this was Section 231 of the CrPC.
