Aiman Nessa vs Union of India and 6 Ors

Bench: 2 — A.M. Bujor Barua

In Brief

The petitioner and her family were declared foreigners by the Foreigners Tribunal in 1999 and ordered to register with the Foreigners Registration Authority. While her family members complied with the registration requirement by October 2018, the petitioner did not. The Supreme Court held that justice requires affording her an opportunity to register as well. The Court directed the petitioner to appear before the Foreigners Registration Authority, Nagaon within 15 days, instructing the authorities to complete the registration process in accordance with law. The writ petition was allowed.
