In Brief
Two criminal appeals filed in the name of Bhagwan Singh challenging a High Court order were found to be fraudulently filed without his knowledge or consent by a conspiracy involving his estranged daughter Rinki, her husband Sukhpal Singh, and multiple advocates. Through forged documents and false notarizations, they sought to revive proceedings against Ajay Katara, a star witness in a major murder case, who was being harassed with false cases. The Supreme Court found this was an abuse of judicial process and referred the matter to the CBI for investigation. The Court also directed that advocates-on-record mark online presence only of advocates actually appearing in court, not those merely associated with law firms.
