In Brief
The Supreme Court held that employees who served in the Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee before the formal Rules were promulgated in 2000 are entitled to have that service counted towards their qualifying service for pension purposes. The Court rejected a technical procedural objection that the writ petition was unmaintainable, finding the petition valid since the earlier order did not expressly reject the claim for retiral benefits. The Court directed that all such prior service be treated as qualifying service and considered in calculating the petitioners' retiral benefits.
