In Brief
The Food Corporation of India and others appealed against interim directions issued by the Allahabad High Court requiring candidates for Assistant General Manager (Legal) posts to submit evidence of eligibility. The Supreme Court, without examining the merits (as the case remained pending in the High Court), found the interim directions unwarranted. It upheld its own interim stay of those directions, directing that this stay would remain in effect during the High Court proceedings. The appeals were disposed of, with a request that the High Court decide the underlying writ petitions within six months.
