In Brief
The Supreme Court regularized five unaided college lecturers in aided posts, with age relaxation as a one-time measure, given their 14–23 years of service at 'A' Grade NAAC institutions. Three other lecturers, aged 49–55, were allowed to continue till superannuation drawing aided-post salaries while remaining in unaided positions. The Court modified the Government's Scheme: regularization effective from vacancy date (without arrears), terminal benefits based on entire service, and no application of reservation rules. The direction was restricted to these eight respondents and cannot serve as precedent for others."
