Devilal and two of his sons were convicted of murder under Indian Penal Code sections 302 read with 34, and sentenced to life imprisonment following the death of Ganeshram, who died from injuries inflicted by the accused armed with an axe, sword, and lathi. The High Court affirmed the conviction. On appeal, the Supreme Court upheld the conviction based on the dying declaration (FIR), eyewitness testimony, and recovered weapons. However, it found that one appellant, Amrat Ram, was under 18 years at the time of the offence and hence a juvenile. While maintaining the conviction, the Court set aside his life sentence and remitted the matter to the Juvenile Justice Board to determine appropriate fine, dismissing the appeal for the other two appellants but partly allowing it for Amrat Ram.",
