A cooperative society election involving 12,000 voters was challenged for non-compliance with mandatory publication rules under the Kerala Cooperative Society Rules. The election schedule was published only in two vernacular newspapers with limited circulation (~3,000) despite mandatory requirements. With only 1,390 voters participating, the Court found the election vitiated due to lack of proper notice. The Court set aside the election and directed it be conducted afresh with publication in major newspapers (Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhumi) to ensure wider voter awareness and participation, to be completed within six months.
