Goolrokh M. Gupta vs Burjor Pardiwala.... dead (deleted) & Ors

Bench: 5 — <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

A Zoroastrian woman married outside the faith sought permission to attend funeral and post-funeral religious ceremonies for her parents at the Towers of Silence (Doongerwadi) Complex at Valsad. The respondent-Trustees and High Priests initially restricted such participation. The Supreme Court suggested the parties negotiate, and they agreed on an interim arrangement: the petitioner and her sisters could attend the funeral prayers and four-day ceremonies, with the petitioner's children able to observe from a designated pavilion. The Court reserved final adjudication of other claimed rights for later and listed the matter for further hearing."
