GULSHAN BAJWA vs REGISTRAR, HIGH COURT OF DELHI & ANR

Bench: 2 — Vikram Nath, Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha

In Brief

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's conviction of an advocate under the Contempt of Courts Act for criminal contempt. The advocate had threatened opposing counsel, filed transfer petitions without client knowledge, and made baseless allegations against judges claiming curses caused judges' deaths. The Court found the conduct interfered with justice administration and rejected the advocate's insincere apology. While confirming guilt, the Court modified the sentence from three months imprisonment to imprisonment till the rising of court, considering age and health. The appeal was dismissed."
