In Brief
A multi-generational family dispute spanning four decades was disposed through mediation after remaining pending in the Supreme Court for over a decade. The Court facilitated settlement with the help of senior counsel and directed the Tehsildar to demarcate 44 Kanals from approximately 132 Kanals of property belonging to the deceased original owner for the legal heirs of one branch of the family. The Court appreciated the administrative efforts and ordered that if the respondents lose water access due to demarcation, they may apply to competent authorities for tubewell permissions (to be decided within six months), with electricity connection to follow within one month. The appeal was disposed in terms of the Tehsildar's equitable demarcation report."
