The Supreme Court granted a transfer petition filed by the Supreme Court Middle Income Group Legal Aid Society under Section 25 of the Code of Civil Procedure. The respondent had filed a civil suit in Ludhiana seeking a refund of legal fees and costs deposited with the Society in 2009, along with interest. Despite being served and given opportunity to contest, the respondent did not appear. The Court found that continuing proceedings in Ludhiana would prejudice the Society given its established purpose of providing legal aid, and transferring the suit to Patiala House Court, New Delhi was in the interest of justice.
