Kalpana Majumder and others appealed against property-related disputes after 16 years of litigation involving multiple civil and criminal cases. With the Court's assistance, a trained mediator facilitated a comprehensive settlement between all parties. The Supreme Court accepted the settlement deed dated 16 July 2018 and ordered: (1) quashing of seven criminal cases registered against the parties; (2) registration of property transfer in favour of the appellants with stamp duty from 2002; and (3) cancellation of a contested Deed of Conveyance. The Court appreciated the mediator's 35+ hours of pro bono work and awarded remuneration.
