This case involved a fatal attack on members of a truck operators' union in Kapurthala on 25 February 2004. One person (Nirmal Kumar) was killed and several others injured when armed assailants attacked with weapons including kirpans and gandasis. The trial court convicted all accused; the High Court partially modified, acquitting some under murder charges but maintaining convictions for grievous hurt and armed dacoity. The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's judgment, finding it properly reasoned, with adequate eyewitness testimony and properly explained delay in FIR lodging. The appeals were dismissed.
