M.C. Mehta vs Union of India & Ors

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

In an interim application arising from a public interest petition on vehicle emission standards, the Supreme Court directed the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers to file detailed affidavits concerning BS-III vehicle inventories as of 31 December 2015, and month-by-month manufacturing and sales data from January 2016 onwards. The Court also sought information on current unsold BS-III stock and manufacturing dates. These details were required to properly adjudicate applications concerning regulation of BS-III vehicle sales and registration post-April 2017, in the context of India's transition to BS-IV emission standards."
