In Brief
Teachers in recognized schools challenged recruitment rules for the "Prabodhak" (teacher) post created by Rajasthan to serve remote villages. They argued that Rule 13(v)—granting age relaxation to para-teachers from state education projects—and bonus marks awarded to project-experienced candidates were discriminatory. The Supreme Court upheld both provisions. It held that the age relaxation and bonus marks had rational nexus to a valid classification: para-teachers from projects possessed unique rural experience directly relevant to the Prabodhak role. The guidelines were issued before advertisement and applied uniformly. Courts should not interfere with expert selection committees' decisions absent glaring error or mala fides. All 47 appeals were dismissed.
