These civil appeals concerning payment of compensation under the Constitution of India were disposed of by reference to an earlier Supreme Court judgment dated 1 November 2017 in Civil Appeal Nos. 16372-16373 of 2017 and connected matters. The Court allowed the appeals and directed the State of Punjab to pay the compensation within two months from the date of the judgment, if not already paid. The applications for substitution were also allowed and the delay in filing was condoned.
