In Brief
Neetu Yadav sought transfer of her husband's divorce petition from Delhi's Family Court to Indore's Family Court. The husband opposed, alleging the wife's family wielded undue influence over the Indore judiciary—citing her retired judge mother, lawyer brother (with Facebook followers), and IT-official younger brother. The Supreme Court allowed the transfer. It held that unsubstantiated allegations of influence, based merely on social media presence and public Bar Association events, cannot override the genuine hardship of the wife and children (residing 800 km away in Indore) attending hearings in Delhi. Courts must presume judicial impartiality absent concrete evidence of bias.
