In Brief
A Senior Assistant employed under GHMC was placed under suspension in April 2018 on grounds of alleged involvement in an ACB trap case. Over three years later, no disciplinary proceedings were initiated and the suspension was never reviewed as required by rules. The court found this violated Rule 8(5)(b) of the Civil Services Rules and Articles 19 and 21 of the Constitution. The court disposed of the petition by directing the authorities to review the suspension within eight weeks in accordance with applicable government orders and pass appropriate orders within a reasonable period.
