The Supreme Court reduced the conviction sentence of a person convicted under Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act, 1985. The original sentence included 15 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1,50,000 with a 3-year default imprisonment. The High Court reduced it to 12 years with a 2-year default. The Supreme Court further reduced the default sentence to 6 months, following the precedent of Shahejadkhan Mahebubkhan Pathan case, considering the appellant's poor financial condition and family obligations. The appellant was set at liberty forthwith as already sufficient sentence had been served."
