Puda (Now) Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada) vs Mandeep Singh & Anr

Bench: 2 — Anil R. Dave

In Brief

The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) appealed against an order reinstating an employee with 40% back-wages. The Supreme Court found the back-wage award excessive given the peculiar facts and partly allowed the appeal. Instead of the full back-wages, the Court directed GLADA to pay a lump sum of Rs. 1.5 lakhs to the employee as compensation in lieu of back-wages, thereby modifying the lower court's judgment while maintaining the reinstatement.
