Raj Kumar vs Asstt. General Manager, State Bank of India

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

An employee dismissed by State Bank of India challenged the High Court's decision to substitute a Labour Court reinstatement order with compensation of Rs. 75,000. The Supreme Court upheld the substitution but enhanced the compensation to Rs. 2,00,000 (in addition to amounts already paid), considering the appellant's nine years of intermittent service from 1984–1993. The enhanced amount is final, with no further claims against the bank. The appeal was allowed with no costs order.
