Punjab State and others filed civil appeals arising from special leave petitions challenging a High Court decision concerning Harbans Kaur. The Supreme Court found that connected related appeals (Civil Appeal No. 2145 of 2016 and batch) had already been remitted to the High Court by its earlier order dated 11.01.2017. Accordingly, the Court disposed of these appeals by reference to that earlier judgment, thereby maintaining consistency across the batch of related cases. The appellants were directed to serve copies of the appeal and judgment on respondents.
