Rai Sabyasachi and Anr vs Union of India and Ors

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

Medical students challenged the NEET examination eligibility notice imposing a 25-year age limit. The Supreme Court found that without formal Medical Council of India Regulations, such an age limit could not be imposed by administrative notice alone. The Court struck down the restriction and directed all eligible candidates be allowed to fill examination forms by April 5, 2017 (extended from March 1). The CBSE was ordered to accept all timely forms and District authorities to provide logistic support including additional examination centres to accommodate expanded participation in the May 2017 NEET examination.">
