In a dispute over alleged breach of a Memorandum of Understanding for company asset transfer, the appellants filed a contempt petition against the respondent. A Single Judge found the respondent guilty of willfully violating court and arbitrator orders. Upon roster change, another Single Judge reviewed and dismissed the contempt petition, holding no deliberate disobedience occurred. The Supreme Court quashed this second judgment, holding that one judge's guilt finding cannot be revisited by another judge of the same court. The second judge can only consider whether contempt has been purged or what punishment is warranted, not re-examine guilt. The proper remedy is statutory appeal under the Contempt of Courts Act.
