Supreme Court of India 2016-06-29 disposed

Ram Venuprasad vs Shilpa Pillai

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

The appellant sought Supreme Court intervention because a Family Court in Chennai had failed to dispose of his matrimonial case within three months as directed by the High Court (judgment dated 29.06.2015). Nearly a year later, no disposal had occurred. The Family Court attributed the delay to non-cooperation from the respondent-wife. The Supreme Court, invoking Article 136, directed the Family Court to conduct the trial on a day-to-day basis and dispose of the case by 31.08.2016, requiring the appellant to produce the judgment copy. The appeal was disposed of accordingly.
