Ram Venuprasad vs Shilpa Pillai

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

Ram Venuprasad appealed against the Third Additional Family Court's failure to comply with a High Court direction to dispose of his matrimonial case within three months. Nearly a year had passed without disposal. The Supreme Court found the Family Court had not adhered to the deadline and directed it to conduct trials on a day-to-day basis, setting a final deadline of 31 August 2016 for case disposal. The Court held courts must comply with time-bound judicial directions and that dilatory conduct by parties cannot justify delays. The appeal was disposed of accordingly.
