In Brief
These three consolidated appeals concerning UPSRTC drivers challenged their classification and age of superannuation. The Labour Court and High Court had held that the drivers belonged to Group D with retirement at age 60. The Supreme Court found this classification erroneous and held that the drivers should be classified under Group C with a correspondingly different retirement age. The Court quashed the impugned orders, finding grave errors in the lower courts' analysis of the employee classification issue.
