In Brief
This case involved the murder of Dr. Sridhar, a BJP Town Secretary in Trichy, allegedly committed in a conspiracy by 13 accused persons divided into two groups. The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of accused A1-A6 for conspiracy and murder, based on testimony of the deceased's daughter (PW1) corroborated by a neighbor (PW65) and approvers, despite PW1 not being named in the initial FIR. The Court found that adequate lighting allowed PW1 to identify the assailants and that the weapon used (knives) was consistent with post-mortem findings. However, the Court acquitted A7, finding insufficient evidence of his presence at the scene and lack of connection to the conspiracy of A1-A6.
