Two government employees were convicted of conspiring to misappropriate 1040 bags of urea while working at a Food Corporation of India depot in Tilrath. Although the initial complaint cited only 540 bags missing, investigation revealed the entire 1040 bags were misappropriated through falsified official records. The appellants showed delivery of 500 bags in two trucks when no such delivery occurred; one truck was diverted, the other never used. The Supreme Court upheld their conviction for criminal breach of trust, falsification of accounts, and conspiracy, finding the totality of evidence—witness testimony and documents—proved guilt beyond doubt. The concurrent findings of the lower courts were affirmed.
