In Brief
Appellants sought the same land value of Rs. 6.5 Lakhs per acre that the Supreme Court had awarded in an earlier related case (Ravindra) for similarly situated landowners in land acquisition proceedings. The Court held that as the appellants were similarly situated to the beneficiaries in the earlier judgment, they were entitled to the same refixed land value. However, the Court denied them statutory interest for the period of delay in acquisition proceedings both before the High Court and Supreme Court. The appeals were accordingly partly allowed.
