In Brief
This case concerns a plot allotment dispute in a cooperative housing society for Life Insurance Corporation employees. The respondent, a female LIC employee, deposited money with the society and exercised an option for Plot No.2 at a members' meeting on 18 December 1988. The society later allotted the plot to an outsider (non-depositor). The Supreme Court held that the respondent was a depositor entitled to membership and Plot No.2 because she had contributed financially, attended the meeting, submitted membership forms, and exercised a valid option for an uncontested plot. The allotment to the outsider violated a court injunction and was illegal. The court directed the society to allot the plot to the respondent in accordance with its 1988 procedure.
