In Brief
In this contempt of court case, the Supreme Court found that two medical professionals (Doctors Munish Prabhakar and K.S. Sachdev) deliberately extended hospital admission to the respondent Balbir without medical justification to shield him from complying with a prior Court order, thereby obstructing administration of justice. Although the Court initially found them guilty of contempt, it accepted their unconditional apologies and directed them to deposit ₹1.40 crore with the Court registry for medical aid to underprivileged patients over three years, instead of imposing custodial punishment. The matter was listed for further proceedings.
