This is an interlocutory application in a boundary dispute between Assam and Nagaland. During the examination of a Survey of India witness (PW 9), Assam sought to produce additional topographical maps held at the Survey's head office. Nagaland objected, arguing that a prior order had already granted leave for document production. The Supreme Court held that earlier leave does not preclude seeking production of documents that were not in the applicant's possession at that time. The Court allowed the production in the interest of justice, while preserving the right of Nagaland to challenge the relevance or admissibility of the maps. The application was allowed.
